More on Moles…
- The mole we see locally is the Eastern Mole.
- Moles like living in open fields and wooded locales.
- A mole is between 6 and 8 inches long on average. It will have gray fur and a short tail.
- They burrow with ease, with their specialized body shape, pointed head, and powerful digging ability.
- They like to eat insects, vegetables, grubs, and seeds.
- Their create extensive tunnels as deep as 12 inches.
- They have excellent senses of smell and touch, useful underground where there is no light.
- Year round diggers, they will manage to burrow 20 feet per day.
Mountain or Molehill?
- If you see molehills, tunnels, or plants with roots eaten, you have moles.
Is a Mole Dangerous?
- They are dangerous to your lawn care efforts and can destroy your in-ground sprinkler systems.
What Should You Do?
- Try to trap those critters. It is tough to do. They are clever and will dig new tunnels to avoid traps.
